RFCyber has built strong partnership with Xiamen eTong operator and signed an exclusive contract to provide Trusted Management Service (TSM) and Mobile Financial Service (MFS) solution to all Xiamen mobile eTong cards in March 2008. RFCyber TSM and MFS solution supports heterogeneous RFID/NFC enabled mobile device. Therefore users have the flexibility to select different mobile devices with mobile eTong card. At this moment, mobile eTong card can be stored in NFC enabled mobile phones (e.g., Nokia 6131i and 6212) and Watchdata SIMPass. Meanwhile, RFCyber TSM and MFS solution is integrated with Xiamen eTong operation system and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), so that mobile eTong card users can top-up their eTong card against the linked account with their ICBC accounts via RFCyber OTA service.
The market has been well educated to adopt contactless tag-&-go shopping behavior, especially in the transportation market. However, with these huge distributed contactless smart cards, all transportation epurse operators continuously face the challenges to increase the transaction amount because the profit from purely transportation usage is very slim or even negative due to the public service mission of transportation epurse operators, especially at Asia Pacific.
RFCyber solution offers eTong operator another way to consume transportation epurses without spending upfront investment of storefront POS terminals. Mobile applications running under our service platform can accept transportation epurses for mico-payment mobile commerce. RFCyber service creates a win-win situation for both transportation epurse operator and mobile application providers by finding another consumption channel and a new, huge and existing customer base, respectively.
Having the RFID enabled mobile phones with mobile value added services; subscribers can use this all-in-one mobile device to enjoy various different kinds of applications, such as transportation epurse, etickets for entertainment, ecoupon and evoucher for shopping, mobile banking and identification, mobile marketing and advertisement, and content purchase and delivery. Mr Yao, CEO of ETong, said, "This revolutionary usage scenario is way beyond the limitation of existing revenue channel, and generates tremendous business opportunities for all involved parties."
