Mobile
POS Solution
RFCyber Mobile POS solution empowers the mobile workforce in
enterprise markets with an innovative low cost yet secured POS based on Near
Field Communication (NFC) enabled mobile device to transact with RFID
tags. Our solution turns the Smart Card
(e.g., NXP SmartMX) in NFC devices into a security and authentication module
(SAM) to enable offline transactions be conducted anywhere in places that even
mobile connection may not be present.
The solution also provides end-to-end security between mobile POS and
backend server to ensure the integrity of every transaction in real time or
batch. With the communication
capability, the Mobile POS can be further integrated into existing enterprise workflows
to provide features such as real time task assignment, assignment signing in
and signing off. This makes the Mobile
POS an attractive solution to convert labor-intensive paper system into a cost
effective e-payment solution, and to expand mobile consumption points for an
existing e-payment system. The solution
is offered for various popular smart card standards such as Mifare, DESFire and
CPU card (e.g., JavaCard).
For consumer market, we also turn the NFC enabled mobile
phones into a smart poster enabled reader device. The external RFID tags can be used in
advertisement industry as smart posters where users can use the NFC handset to
access content stored in the smart posters.
Mobile POS is
deployed by our Trusted Service Management (TSM) platform to manage not only
the applications loaded into Mobile POS but also the SAM stored in Smart Card
of the mobile device.
Successful
Deployments
Social
Care E-Voucher
Worked with
partners, we deployed our Mobile POS solution using NFC enabled mobile phones
(Nokia 3220 and 6131i) to the Social Care Service of Breda, The
Netherlands at August 2007. Citizens of Breda, who need social
care services, are issued contactless e-voucher cards storing personal ID and
credits (e-tokens) for services. Social
care workers carry a NFC enabled mobile phone.
The phone is a NFC Mobile POS, deployed by our TSM. To check-in at a customer, the social care
worker touches with the mobile phone the customer’s e-voucher card for identification
and a timestamp for starting the service. After a service is delivered, the
social care worker touches with the mobile phone again the e-voucher card to
check-out, a timestamp for ending the service.
A deduction of the pre-paid e-token from the e-voucher card is done. These transactions and service records are
stored in the NFC Mobile POS, which can in turn be uploaded to a back-end
server in batch via OTA. In addition,
social care workers can use the NFC Mobile POS to let the customers purchase
more e-tokens, by using the OTA technology for the top-up of the customer’s
e-voucher card. The social workers will
batch upload POS transaction records to the backend periodically. The Mobile POS can also query balance and
history of an e-voucher.
This deployment
provides simple, efficient and accurate record tracking for the social care
services offering organization “Werk aan de Wijk” in Breda.
By using NFC enabled mobile phone technology, resources can effectively
be allocated for respective services. For the end-users, this new product makes
the purchase and handling of social care services much more easy and
convenient.
NFC
Smart Poster
We are the smart
poster solution provider to the NFC contactless mobile credit card promotion
program conducted by Chunghwa Telecom, China Trust Commercial Bank, Visa
International and Nokia in Taipei,
Taiwan at
September 2007. In this program,
consumers can simply use their Nokia 6131i NFC cell phones to touch RFID tag on
each smart poster to access the information stored on its tag. With user’s
permission, the phones can use the smart poster information via the GPRS
connection to OTA download additional promotions information and coupons. These coupons can then be stored on the cell
phone for future consumption at participating merchants. As part of the solution, there is a web management
system for administrators to manage the promotional information and write the
information into RFID tags.
RFCyber NFC Smart
Poster solution, based on our Mobile POS technology, enables the interactive
smart poster advertisement by following the NFC Forum smart poster format. The advertisement provider will benefit from
this revolutionary interactive advertisement approach, especially comparing
with traditional one-way advertisement to consumers.
